About physicians.fyi
physicians.fyi is a transparency platform for physician compensation — built by doctors, for doctors.
The problem
Physician compensation is opaque. Contract negotiations happen in isolation, with little information about what peers at similar institutions actually earn. This information asymmetry consistently disadvantages physicians — especially those early in their careers, those entering new specialties, or those without a strong professional network to tap.
What we do
We aggregate physician compensation data — submitted anonymously by physicians themselves — and make it freely searchable. You can filter by specialty, employer type, state, and more. Submissions are cross-referenced with verified credentials where possible, and government-disclosed pay ranges (like VA physician salaries from the Federal Register) are included and labeled as such.
Anonymity
Submissions are always anonymous to other users. We collect only the compensation details needed to make the data useful — specialty, employer type, geography, and compensation structure. No names, NPI numbers, or personally identifying details are shared publicly.
Why trust this data?
We offer optional document verification — physicians can upload an offer letter for parsing, which marks submissions as document-verified. Government-disclosed data (VA pay scales, public university salaries) is labeled separately and sourced directly from official publications.
No platform can guarantee every self-reported number is accurate. But transparent, aggregated data — even imperfect — is more useful than nothing, and far better than relying on recruiters and hearsay.
